What’s UP in the Storefront Studio

20170603_115259 (1)Story Stitchers is a work site for 16-24 year old interns from STL Youth Jobs. Interns are working on a variety of projects including learning about audio technology both in the studio and live, fundraising, and social justice art in general.

Youth are working with artist Anna Maria Tucker on a documentation project called The Wish Box Project. Cards are collected at tour stops from neighborhood locals reflecting on health care issues. Youth are also collecting audio interviews on health care issues at tour stops.

Interns are heading into week 3 today and will meet representatives from the Contemporary Art Museum and from Co-Op City Market, two of the upcoming Pick the City UP Tour stops. Youth have worked with artist-in residence Demil Johnson aka Superhood to create a new song based on the tour’s theme and a recording has been created. Youth will begin to research a style of music video for this song, debating appropriate audience, imagery and messaging and critiquing what is currently popular with their age group.

STL Youth Jobs Interns are working with Washington University interns Griffin Reed, Kathy Tun and Jinhee Kim to create an audio PSA for the tour and send out press releases and working with KP Dennis and Susan to create show sets and ready information for cast and crew.
