Presented in conjunction with Family Fun Day, a free interactive public event for all ages, 11:00 am – 3:00 pm.
Story Stitchers will present original spoken word and hip hop that responds to works currently on view in the Kemper Art Museum’s permanent collection with a focus on artists of African American decent, artists working in a Collective, and art work related to the American experience especially as experienced by African American people. Works by Gran Fury, Andy Warhol, Carrie Mae Weems, Renee Cox, Rashid Johnson, Romare Beardon, Tim Rollins + K.O.S., Franz Ackerman, and Kara Walker are included.
