Saint Louis Story Stitchers open call for spoken word auditions for Denise Ward-Brown’s new documentary film.
“Never Been a Time seeks to uncover the common link, separated by almost 20 miles and 100 years, between the 1917 East St. Louis race riot, one of the worst in American history, and the 2014 racial uprisings sparked in Ferguson, Missouri.” — Denise Ward-Brown
The film will premiere during the commemorative events for the 100th anniversary of the 1917 East St. Louis Race Riot in the summer of 2017.

Auditions: Friday, July 29 10:00 am to 12:00 pm and Saturday, July 30 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Kranzberg Arts Center, 501 N Grand Blvd.
Themes for spoken word include respect, equality, citizenship, suppressed history, and the connection between the past, present and the future.
