Curating Teen Voices Workshop with Carmon Colangelo included a trip to Dick Blick to purchase sketchbooks and drawing supplies.

Stitchers Teens had a relaxing visit Saturday afternoon with guest artist Carmon Colangelo at the Curating Teen Voices: Coming of Age workshop. Carmon brought his own sketchbooks to share and talked about drawing as a part of his daily artistic practice. Everyone took a short walk to Dick Blick on Delmar and chose a new sketchbook and drawing supplies, courtesy of the guest artist.

Teens learned about a variety of art materials and went right to drawing as soon as they returned to the Stitchers Storefront Studio. The room was very quiet…under the focused art dome of a master…Carmon-ized.

September 25, 26, and 27 Playing for a Cause and An Undercover Weekend are teaming up to raise funds for the Saint Louis Story Stitchers!!

Details on partnership with Story Stitchers is HERE

And band lists and times are here: http://undercoverweekend.com/

Funding from An UnderCover Weekend will provide partial support to artists and youth working towards our first publication, Curating Teen Voices: Coming of Age. This publication will include writing from local teens on the experience of growing up today in St. Louis, images and artwork by youth and participating professional artists, reflections by scholars, and a new sound or musical recording related to the subject. This project is aimed at creating a better understanding of the issues that concern local teens and the reduction of bias, especially towards minority teenage youth. The project is being led by artist-in-residence Mariana Parisca.

We appreciate your support of the Story Stitchers!

Story Stitchers programming is supported in part by the Regional Arts Commission.
